DFLL Job Opportunity: Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor (Linguistics, Literature, Translation Studies, East Asian Studies)

About DFLL

Founded in 1926, the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (DFLL) at Tsinghua University follows the academic tradition of “connecting the East and the West, bridging the past and the present, and integrating the humanities and the sciences”. DFLL offers a range of teaching and research programs in linguistics, literature studies and translation studies.

Position Description

DFLL is now seeking exceptional scholars with special focuses on linguistics, literature studies (English and American literature, comparative literature and intercultural studies), translation studies, East Asian languages and literature. The primary duties include two to three courses of teaching (or at least 96-credit-hour teaching), quality research, public and administrative service.

Job Rank: Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor

Duties: Conduct quality and innovative research and publish in high-impact journals and books; teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and undertake administrative duties in course development, student activities and/or department management.

Requirements: A PhD in linguistics, literature studies, translation studies, East Asian languages and literature or related disciplines; excellent teaching and supervision; strong research and administrative ability; a proven record of publications and grants.

- Candidates for Professor should have outstanding research/grant records, leadership and international reputation.

- Candidates for Associate Professor should have a number of high-impact publications and grants, and a demonstrated ability/potential to develop a research area on their own.

- Candidates for Assistant Professor should have demonstrated potential for high-impact publication and grant capture.

Salary

Start-up fund and remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include campus housing, leave, medical and insurance schemes where applicable.
