He Honghua is a Professor of Linguistics in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Tsinghua University and a member of the Humanities Academic Committee of Tsinghua University's Degree Committee. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Beijing Normal University in 2001. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge and Baylor University (USA). He has published numerous papers in academic journals such as Foreign Language Teaching and Research, Contemporary Linguistics, Journal of Beijing Normal University, and Journal of Tsinghua University. He also authored some works in generative grammar (e.g., The Scope of Chinese Quantifiers and Logical Forms, 2007, Beijing: Language and Culture Press) and translated a biography of Noam Chomsky (Chomsky, 2010, Beijing: Peking University Press). Currently, he is doing the research in general linguistics, aiming at better understanding of the human language faculty.
