Tsinghua University and the University of Exeter launched the Institute for Global Humanities in 2024, a landmark initiative that convenes world-class research and supports deepening collaboration in the humanities.
The Institute for Global Humanities opens a new chapter in the Tsinghua-Exeter strategic partnership, deepening opportunity for collaboration in arts and humanities research. The Institute offers a supportive and inclusive, cross-disciplinary research environment for scholars across philosophy, history and languages, literature and cultural and visual studies and other aligned areas of scholarship. The Institute facilitates annual conferences and symposia, staff and student mobility, education partnership and other activities.
The Institute is led through the Department for Foreign Languages and Literatures (DFLL) at Tsinghua University and the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) at the University of Exeter.
International Conference: “Humanistic Dialogues in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” to be held from June 5 to 7, 2026, at Tsinghua University. This conference is co-organized by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures of Tsinghua University, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the University of Exeter, Waseda University, and Newcastle University.
