Center for the Study of Language and Psychology


Center for the Study of Language and Psychology was founded in July, 2012. Based on Tsinghua University, the center unites relevant researchers both inside and outside the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and is devoted to research concerning the relationship between language and psychology, including such areas as child language development and disorder, psychological mechanisms of language processing, Chinese aphasia and psychological and neural bases of foreign language learning.

With efforts from all members, the center now has founded an eye movement technology lab and a language acquisition lab, and has undertaken many significant research projects, such as “A New Perspective for the Early Identification of Chinese Children at Risk for Dyslexia: Implicit Knowledge about Written Language and Print-Sound Link Learning Ability” (Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Principal investigator: YIN Li), “Syntactic Categories and Phrase Structures in Mandarin-speaking Children’s Early Language” (Project of National Social Science Foundation, Principal investigator: YANG Xiaolu), “A Study on the Syntactic Disorders of Chinese Aphasics Under the Framework of Generative Grammar” (Project of National Social Science Foundation, Principal investigator: CUI Gang), “Using Eye Movements to Gauge Language Development in Preschool Children” (Project of National Social Science Foundation, Principal investigator: ZHOU Peng), and “Study of the Individual Difference of Chinese EFL Learners from the Perspective of Dynamic Systems Theory” (Project of the Humanities and Social Sciences Foundation of the Ministry of Education, Principal investigator: CUI Gang).
